SD7167-Hybrid – Design of an STB DVB-T+IP / DVB-C+IP

The design project involves the development of a set-top box for receiving and displaying terrestrial digital video signals (DVB-T) in the frequency range from 174 to 860 MHz in the MPEG-2/4 H.264 broadcasting format. The product supports SD/HD video and IPTV.

The device is based on the new CPU STi7167 and equipped with an IP port, a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) as well as two USB ports for updating the embedded software and performing multimedia functions, such as viewing photos and video. As an option, middleware updates can be transmitted in the transport stream and the set-top box can be fitted with a hard disk for recording and later playing back TV programs (PVR — Personal Video Recorder).

The development of the set-top box SEMI-OEM-STB-Sti7167 is based on market research and an analysis of consumer preferences, so the product targets the middle-end market segment.
